Local Children’s Entertainer?

Performing At A Town Near You

Being a Children’s Entertainer based in Portsmouth is different to being one based in, say, Leicester.

As Portsmouth is on the South Coast of Hampshire, my catchment area is not 360 degrees, but something like half that. To the south, there is The Solent. In other words, sea!

This means I travel further afield than a Midlands based Children’s Entertainer. My range is about seventy miles to the north, west and east. I do Children’s Parties as far afield as South London, Brighton and Poole and am frequently performing Magic Parties in Surrey, North Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and West Sussex.

The advantage of this for you, the Birthday Child’s parent, is that you can book one of my quality, professional, less-stress party packages. You might live in an area where there are very few Children’s Entertainers, so everybody has booked the same person. When you book me, the Birthday child and their friends will see a different Magic Show and play different games.

Wherever you live, I will arrive in good time to set up and be ready for the start of your party. I will bring my professional sound equipment, music and prizes. In fact, I bring everything I need!

And my prices include travel, so there are no hidden extras.

Whether you live in Arundel, Basingstoke, Cobham, Denmead, Eastleigh, Farnham, Guildford, Haslemere, Iping, Kings Somborne, Lyndhurst, Midhurst, Netley, Overton, Petersfield, Ringwood, Southampton, Tangmere, Upwaltham, Virginia Water or Yateley, you can have a Mister Tall Party!

Magic Party For Children

Why Have A Magic Party For Children?

As I write this, Britain’s Got Talent is starting its thirteenth series and magic is going to play a very big part again. A lot of those magicians appearing on the telly were inspired by watching magic at their birthday party. It is possible that they were invited up and took part in a magic trick. And when they did that trick – actually performed magic themselves – they got the ‘Magic Bug’. Look at this young man’s face. Imagine how good he felt. Only a Magic Party can give your child that feeling of amazement – They Did Magic!

What’s The Best Age For A Children’s Magic Party?

Here’s a guide for my birthday parties…

3rd Birthday Party: While I do perform short magic shows for pre-schools, I don’t do 3-year-old’s birthday parties. At this age, the birthday child and their little friends are too young to get what I do. They might like my bright appearance and funny actions, but my stories won’t hold their attention and they will become restless. It would be much better to wait until they are four years old.

4th Birthday Party: 4-year-olds can really enjoy one of my Magic Birthday Parties. The birthday child and their friends have gained some experience of being with other children and story telling at their pre-school or nursery. And even though it might be the first ever birthday party they have attended, my subtle approach of getting them all involved brings them out of their shell. My non-elimination games are easy to understand and are fun. And my magic shows are tailored specifically to their age group. The tricks I use and my performance is designed to get them involved and therefore keep their attention.

5th and 6th Birthday Party: 5-year-olds and 6-year olds are a really good age for my Children’s Magic Parties. They have had experience of attending birthday parties, they are used to some structure at school and they are developing their own characters. This means that when they arrive, they are ‘up for it’. One thing to remember is, because they are at school daily, they have also experienced the sort of everyday humdrum routine that school brings. They’ve been in the real world. So a birthday party is a time to let off steam and a chance to have some control. In my magic show, they are the ones who are doing the magic. They are the clever ones, much cleverer than me! Also, at this age, they may not have established a group of close friends (especially 5-year-olds who have just started school), they tend to be friends with the whole class. This means they would like the whole class at their party, which is fine for me, as there is no limit to the number of children you invite.

7th Birthday Party: This is still a good age for one of my Magic Parties. Like the five and six-year-olds, they know how to party. But 7-year-olds can have a cheeky edge to them. They like a joke and like to joke, so my style is ideal. They’re not treated like little babies. My magic show is again tailored to this specific age group, it contains tricks that will make them laugh and amaze them in equal measure. At my parties, they have the opportunity to escape the humdrum of daily life and have a great time.

8th Birthday Party and older: Once your child starts Junior School, you might think they are too old for the traditional children’s birthday party. It is fair to say that, by this age, they have established their own ideas about what they do and don’t like. But if they would like a Magic Party, I have the experience to provide you with a great party. To do this, I recommend your child has some input. With my Disco, Magic & Games package, they can choose to have some of their favourite songs included on the party playlist. To give you an idea of how I deal with this age group, my magic show contains tricks I usually perform for grown-ups and by the end of the party, I’m considered to be ‘cool’.

So that’s my guide to the best age for a Children’s Magic Party, I hope you’ve found it useful.

If your child is four and above, I can provide you with a less stress party which your birthday child will thoroughly enjoy. You can find more information about the packages I offer here, or get a quote.

Have A Safe Party

This is a sensible message from a man who makes everybody laugh!

I honestly couldn’t tell how many birthday parties I have been to – definitely thousands. And each one has had a birthday cake. And luckily, apart from the birthday child spitting on the cake, I haven’t seen anything bad happen. But there is a risk of an accident happening and that’s why I’m writing this.

It’s not so much the cake, but the candles on it. When children go to blow them out, they lean in and over the candles. If the child has long hair, or if they have a costume that is loose and hangs down, they could be putting themselves at risk. The flame of the candle can cause the hair or costume to catch alight and (in the worst-case scenario) the child could end up with an injury.

When it’s time to blow the candles out, keep the cake up from the child. You could hold it so they can’t lean over. Or if it’s on a table, keep the child seated so they are on the same level. If you only have a low table for the cake, be sure to keep the child’s hair and costume back, or be ready to hold the child back, or have a huge big bucket of water, ready to throw over them!

Summer’s Here And It’s Time To Party

Let The Children Play In The Garden For Their Party

At the time of writing, Summer Is Definitely HERE!

And when the weather’s nice and sunny, you probably don’t want to be cooped up in a dark and dingy hall.

If your Child’s Birthday is in the months of June, July and August (and the weather is as good as it is now), why not hold the party in your garden?

I can offer Garden Party Packages to fit in with your plans.

There’s the 45 Minute Magic Show, with age – related magic, pitched to age of the children. This will give the children the chance to sit down and have a break from running around. And don’t forget, the Birthday Child get’s to be The Star Of The Show.

Or I can be at your party for the Whole Two hours and provide Music, Magic & Games. This means the children will be occupied throughout, taking a break to eat your party food.

Or if you have another activity going on, I can make a custom made package to fit in with your plans.
